Blog Train - STILL GOING - and important info

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to make sure you know that there are still 4 more days on MY blog train. There are a few more Digitals designers joining me for a few more days too. So make sure you don't miss the last 4 ScatterZ and come back all weekend! :)

Also, thank you so much for your CT applications and participating in my blog contest - KEEP THEM COMING!

Okay, so in case you were wondering - my HIGH/LOW and my PROJECT 365 Photos will be coming back next week. My parents and some of my siblings are arriving today for the weekend and so I'm a little behind on everything - but give me the weekend to spend some time with my family and then I will play catch up.

If you sent me an email about CT applications, blog contest, questions, etc. I promise I will try and get them responded to today - but if I don't - know that I'm just with my family and I'll get to it on Sunday/Monday okay?

Hope you all have a great weekend!

CT Call - Special Twist

I am looking to add more people to my Creative Team! To see more of my kits - check out my blog.

Here is my Creative Team process:
* You will get an email a week ahead of when I release a kit through a private group. The email will show a preview of my kit and specific instructions including a deadline (I am going to advertise your layouts with the release of the kit). You can check out the deadline and the kit and see if you are able to make the deadline. If so, then you SIGN UP for that kit by emailing me back. You are free to not be included in a certain kit, but if you don't sign up for at least 1 every 2 months then you will have to leave my CT.

* I then send the links out for the kit.

* You must finish your layout by deadline and then post it to my store galleries, Digishoptalk, and any others you would like to.

* Then you will send your gallery links through a private group so that all CT members can see and comment on your layout.

* You should also create a quickpage of your layout that I can use for my Crops and such as freebies. And you will send that to me privately.

Okay, if you are interested in applying - here's what you need to do:

Send me an email at dedesmith32@gmail.com with the following information:

1. Your Name
2. A link to your most complete gallery
3. And your kit request (see below)

Here's the Twist:

- I am releasing a new Kit Line this week. It is called HAPPILY EVER AFTERZ and includes 12 mini-kits. You will pick ONE kit from these 12 and email me at dedesmith32@gmail.com with your choice. (see images below for the previews).

- I will then send you the kit links for FREE.

- You will create 1 layout - make it your very best - and send it to me by email.

DEADLINE:

Your Kit request emails must be made by August 7th.
Your layouts are due by August 10th.

I will announce my new CT by August 15th.

I will use your layout, as well as your gallery to decide who will be on my CT! I hope that this call will be a lot of fun because you do get a free kit out of it no matter what!

Thanks!

Question Answered + info

When looking at your Wishes of the Heart Kit I didn't see a fairy god mother. Was there a reason she was left out?

Don't worry Kristin - look for the fairy godmother coming as a Friday Freebie (probably next week :)

If there IS something I missed from the stories that you would like in Happily Ever AfterZ - PLEASE leave a comment here with what you would like to see. Your ideas will show up in my Friday Freebies or maybe an extras pack! Also if you are wondering about the "bad guys" in the stories - don't worry - my Halloween kit this year is going to be VILLANZ and will include lots of characters from these stories! :)

Question-Answer

Sharon asked a question in the comments:

I'm curious though why the prince and princess don't have faces??

It's just a certain style that I went with. I actually really love the look of no faces. It's kind of based on the Willow Tree Figures that I really love. They are also part of a new line of DigiDollZ that I plan on making as well! It makes them a little more generic and you could even add your own faces if you want. I just really like it - I did it with my Nativity TearZ too (although they were a little different than this - because I did give you faces to add if you wanted them and they were tearz people).

UPDATED: Is there any chance you would make "faces" we could download and add to these dolls? Pretty please?! I have a Willow Tree figure that a friend gave me...and it's taken all my will power not to add a face!

SORRY Sharon - but this is really how I want the princesses - LOL - I love the look of no faces. Your welcome to add your own faces to it for your layouts. Don't hate me.

PLEASE leave a comment when you download - or ask your questions and I will answer them here! I really would love to hear from all of you!

Project 365: Week 30

Monday, July 20, 2009

I found a new website this weekend that I LOVE. It's called Our Best Bites and has some great recipes! I love bread, but I haven't really ever made it. Tonight I made cheesy breadsticks and homemade hot pockets - recipes from the site and it was SO GOOD! I can't wait to try out more of the yummy food and fun ideas that they have on the site!

Beth is so funny. I just can't figure her out. She is the most emotional and frilly little girl. Loves to dress up, and play with dolls and her horses. But she still isn't afraid to go play in the dirt. This is the little treasure she came in with today. A long worm with ants crawling all over it. She just had to show me - "it's so cute mom - I wish I could keep it." The kids played with the worm in the dirt all afternoon. JJ was really jealous because Beth had found it and not him. Crazy kids!

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

The kids love playing with the letter magnets on the fridge. They have a process. JJ likes to stack them in order of the alphabet and Beth likes to cluster them in colors!

Thursday, July 23, 2009

JJ got his hand stuck in the cookie jar - oh wait, it's the Clorox Wipes! JJ was actually trying to be responsible and clean up the mess he made and he got his hand stuck. It was so funny to watch him flail around with the container stuck on his hand and him giggling non-stop. He finally got his hand out - too funny - I think they need to make cookie jars this good.

Today is Pioneer Day here in Utah and I've been thinking about my ancestors today and how much they sacrificed to be a member of the church and how grateful I am that I was raised here in Utah. We didn't do anything special today, but I did get a special surprise. I found a box on my doorstop with some wonderful pink sunglasses in it! I'm so excited to be able to participate in the SHADES OF SUMMER this year! It's a fun tradition started last year by Liz Kartchner. She sends out lots of boxes of traveling shades. You take a picture wearing them and then pass the shades and the photos along to the other people on the list. Fun fun!

Saturday, July 25, 2009

In celebration of Independence Day and Utah's Pioneer Day, I bought fireworks to do on both days. Yesterday, Joey was in SLC doing his podcast and playing racquetball, so we waited until tonight to do the rest of our fireworks. I love how much sparkle the fireworks put into my kids' faces!

I love seeing the special daddy-daughter relationship that these two have. For church today, Joey picked out a beautiful dress for Beth to wear and Beth had to pick a tie for her Daddy to match her!

Project 365: Week 29

Monday, July 13, 2009

When I design, I almost always have some movie/tv show going on corner of my screen. I can't seem to design without it. I never watched the tv show, ER while it was going on, but lately I have been consumed by it. This week I started the 8th season - I'm sad now that all the characters seem to be changing - the old ones moving on (my favorites :) - but I am still enjoying it.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Beth is a morning person. I am not sure where she gets it - because I am definitely NOT. She is usually the first one up and she wakes her brother up and eventually her parents drag into the kitchen. This is how I found her this morning. All decked out, with the dress over her pajamas - her crown and sun glasses on and with her play phone - all ready to go for the day. My little Super Star!

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Dad brought home a yummy blue slushie to share for dessert! The kids loved it and there's nothing like blue tongues in summer!

Thursday, July 16, 2009

The kids were playing outside and I was doing some work in the house. Suddenly I heard some terrifying screaming from Beth. She hopped in the house, wailing and holding her foot.

"Mooommmmm, a bee was on my foooooot, and and and I told it to go away, but instead it bited meeeeeee."

Yep, Beth got her first (and hopefully last) bee sting. We treated it and I had to hold her for the rest of the day! Poor girl.

Friday, July 17, 2009

We had lunch with Dad at McDonalds today! It was fun to see Dad outside of work on a weekday! :) The kids came home with some adorable little critters from their happy meals and for the rest of the day they played with all of their stuffed animals!

A few months ago I had a promotion on my blog HERE. It is kind of a crafty Pay-it-forward kind of thing and I had saw it on my friend, Brianne's blog and loved the idea, so I signed up! Well today, I received a great surprise in the mail - an amazing stitched wall hanging for me! It's beautiful Brianne - thank you so much! I immediately hung it on my living room wall.

I AM working on my little projects for the 5 people that signed up on my blog - so hopefully they will be done soon!

I stayed up all night working on a kit. We went to church and then when we came home, I just crashed for about 3 hours. It was our monthly dinner with my brother and his wife and it was my turn to cook, but unfortunately, a construction crew broke the water main and we had no water. So I made up some chicken salad sandwiches, Snicker salad, and some fruit and we went over to Cody and Becki's house to eat. It turned out really great for a summer dinner - no cooking to heat up the house! It is always nice to visit with them! I caught this photo of the sun on our way home - it was very beautiful and was the perfect way to end our Sunday!

miss me?

Did you miss me? Yea, I got a little behind on my blog and posting my Project 365 - actually, I am behind on everything - hopefully I'll catch up soon! I'm working on posting my 365 photos right now!

I am working on finishing up my Happily Ever AfterZ Kits - you heard me - KITS - I finally figured out a better way to present all the designing that I have done on this kit - to make it worth my time and effort. And you'll get to hear all about that on FRIDAY! Please come back for the start of Digitals Christmas in July event - starting with a blog train! Hopefully I get everything done in time!

Did I mention my house is a mess, my kids have been neglected, and I'm tired? LOL Yes, this kit has taken everything from me and it's still not done - but hopefully I will get it done soon so I can take a break!

Join me tomorrow night for another Over the Hump Designer Spotlight - this time with Jolene Shaffer!

Project 365: Week 28

Monday, July 6, 2009

Everyday when we take JJ to summer school we pass these fields that are filled with these thistles. I am amazed at how big they grow and even though they are actually weeds and are just nuisances, they have a bit of beauty to them too. I had to stop and get some photos of them today!

Growing up, my grandma's egg noodles was a special treat that we only got at Thanksgiving and possibly Christmas. My family always liked the egg noodles over mashed potatoes. Now, whenever I make her egg noodles I think of her and miss her. My Grandma lived right next door to me growing up and I saw her almost every day of my life up until she died when I was a junior in high school. I was in the mood for the egg noodles today so I whipped some up to go with the leftover mashed potatoes I had. I think it is one of the most comforting and filling foods there is! YUMMY!

Since we are ditching the kids this weekend we decided we needed to do a little something extra special with them so we decided to camp out on our lawn. The kids got a real kick out of the tent and we had hot dogs for dinner. It was fun to see them so delighted! Next time though we will get something to get the mosquitos to stay away! Ouch.

Thursday, July 9, 2009

We headed out today to start our anniversary getaway. Joey and I both had our ipods going and it was nice to just relax and listen to music. I don't usually do that - but it helped our trip down to go much faster. The kids were so happy to see their cousins when we got to Orderville. We spent the afternoon/evening with my sister Kori and her family. It was great to visit and play. Joey was able to offer them a little computer help too and we went out to dinner together. I really enjoy spending time with my sister and her family. We slept at Grandma's and Grandpa's house and visited with them for awhile when they got back from the ranch.

Friday, July 10, 2009

We left the kids with Grandma and headed to St. George this morning. We went through a session in the temple and it was so nice to be able to go there together. We had the opportunity to stay in an awesome penthouse condo for our weekend getaway. Although St. George was REALLY HOT - it was nice to be in an extra nice (air-conditioned) condo! We had a king size bed, jacuzzi tub, full kitchen, and a hot tub on our deck. We enjoyed lounging around in the condo that was bigger than our own trailer house! We watched some movies, took a dip in the hot tub and just relaxed and spent time together. Joey even made me food - I didn't have to cook! And that is something that is VERY RARE - he made the best pork chops for us. YUMMY! It was a really fun time!

Saturday, July 11, 2009

It has been awhile since we have been able to go to the Utah Shakespearan Festival. I feel very grateful that I am married to a man who enjoys going to plays as much (probably even more) as I do. He was into Technical Theatre big time in high school and did a lot of stage managing. So being able to see 2 plays was just a real treat. We saw Henry V on Friday night and The Secret Garden on Saturday. They were just wonderful! We also got the opportunity to see a play in the Adams Shakespearean Theatre for the first time. It is an outdoor theatre designed after the theatre that Shakespeare himself used and it was really awesome!

Sunday, July 12, 2009

We checked out and headed to Orderville today to pick up the kids. We ate lunch at Grandma's house and headed home. The kids and I napped a bit on the way home - it was extremely hot and put us all to sleep - good thing Joey stayed awake! I did look back to check on the kids as we started the trip and caught this little scene with JJ. He was all comfortable with his feet rested on the arm of the seat in front of him with a grin on his face. He had tons of fun at Grandma's and at Sink Valley, but I think he's glad to be going home! Beth wanted to stay at Grandma's too where she is spoiled to death - but it was really good to see them both and be home.

High/Low - July 3rd + Freebie

My LOW for this week is that I turned 30 on Monday. I know I have lots of great years ahead of me, but for some reason I am struggling with this one. Hopefully I'll get over it soon.

My HIGH for this week is... thanks to all my wonderful customers who shopped my Featured Designer sale...I have earned enough money for the little getaway that my hubby and I have planned next weekend for our 10th Wedding anniversary. I can't wait!

I do have a little freebie for you today that once again coordinates with my HAPPILY EVER AFTERZ Kit that I am hoping to finish this week - but if I don't - at least by the end of the month!

Project 365: Week 27

Monday, June 29, 2009

The dreaded birthday has arrived. I turned 30 today. Not sure why it is giving me such a hard time, but at least now it's over. I made myself brownies and had fun shaping it into the big 3-0.

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Beth, JJ, and I headed over to Costco and Walmart after JJ's school to get some much needed shopping done.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

JJ is really enjoying Summer school and I'm so glad he had the chance to continue his education. It gives him some much needed attention and something to do during the weekdays so his summer is not too boring! Here he is with his teacher.

Thursday, July 2, 2009

JJ's class had a small Independence Day parade around the plaground today. They all looked so cute with their hats and flags that the had made this week!

Friday, July 3, 2009

Since Joey didn't have to work today, he got the automatic sprinklers going for the lawn. We had some broken heads that had to be replaced. The kids got drenched running on the lawn as Dad fixed the Sprinklers and they had such a great time! Pete came down and hung out with us today too!

Saturday, July 4, 2009

We got some Sparklers, Flowers, and Pop its for the kids and we set them off tonight as a family. It was a lot of fun seeing the sparkle in their eyes as they watched and participated. We had 2 mishaps with Beth burning her finger and JJ getting a small spark on his eye lid, but all in all it was a lot of fun!

Sunday, July 5, 2009

We decided we needed cookies, so the kids helped me make our favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies today. Thank goodness for our Stand mixer - it makes it all more enjoyable!
