So, hopefully you have all heard that 3S is NOT closing! Wahoo! You'll all be hearing more news soon! I had moved on after hearing the announcement that it was closing - but I have decided to stay! So the ScatterZ Challenge will be continuing - look for the November challenge soon. But the 3S ScrapStyle ezine will not be continuing.

Passionately Pink Blog Party - DAY 2

PASSION
I have another passion that I have totally let go for many years. But for some reason I have been thinking about it lately and hopefully I will find out how I can get involved in it again. I LOVE Family History. I love adding names/dates to my family tree and most of all I LOVE hearing the STORIES! I love getting to know my ancestors through journals and stories. I feel like it gives me a better idea of who I am! After my grandparents died, we found my grandma's journal. These were the grandparents that lived right next door to me growing up. I saw them every day of my life and felt very close to them. My grandma died when I was a junior in high school and I really miss her. But when I got a hold of her journal - I felt a connection that I haven't in a long time. Hearing the stories and the feelings and reading about the people in my grandma's life made a huge impact on me. I was able to type up the words in the journal and give it to all my family for Christmas that year and it has truly made a difference in my life. I know how important it is to write in journals (I need to get back doing that too) - I truly feel that our family history is who we are and I definitely think it is important!

PINK
Yesterday I talked about my daughter and her love of PINK. I was trying to figure out something pink that I could write about today and my daughter sparked a memory. She is dragging her pink blanket around the house and I got thinking about it. Her pink blanket is actually MY blanket - my great-grandma made it for me when I was a baby. I really didn't use it much and it was in great condition - until Beth got a hold of it - and now it is falling apart. It would really help if I learned to sew, but I don't really want to. LOL Anyways, as I thought about that blanket I thought of another blanket that I haven't thought of in a really long time. There was another blanket that I had when I was a baby and growing up. It was pink with blue squares that had animals in it. I LOVED it - I used it for many things - as a blanket, as a tent, and even to cover up my little "hut" that was in my room growing up (my bed was on top of a counter-like thing growing up and underneath this counter was a hole that had book shelves and lots of room for "stuff" - I called it my hut). To this day, I'm not exactly sure what happened to that blanket and somehow I miss it. Looking back, I think it was really the only "pink" thing I had and liked. (If you recall yesterday's post - I really hated pink). Isn't it funny what sparks your memory and the little things that you recall about growing up! I really wish I still had that blanket...

Passionately Pink Blog Party - DAY 1

So what is something that I am passionate about?
I am totally and completely passionate about my designs. I put everything that I have into my design work and I hope that it shows. I am so passionate about it, that many many times everything else gets put in the back burner - the housework, the bills, and sometimes even my family. Yes, I get so involved in what I am designing that I sometimes forget that my REAL focus should be on my children and family. GASP - did I actually admit that? I love my children and my husband and I love spending time with them but I do tend to get too wrapped up in my work and I'm really struggling to find a balance in my life. So design is definitely my PASSION!

PINK
Okay, so pink is NOT my favorite color. I've never really been a girly girl - I have always liked blue and green and darker colors. And mostly I HATED pink. I always swore that I would never dress my daughter in pink. But all that was before my Beth came along. And I have to admit that pink has grown on me a little bit. And yes, my daughter wears pink - CONSTANTLY. She IS that girly-girl. She loves to dress up in pink dresses and wear jewelry and pink shoes. Pink would be Beth's favorite color. For Halloween she is being Aurora (from Sleeping Beauty) - mostly because Aurora has a PINK frilly dress and of course she has the crown to match! And Pink totally fits my little princess - it is HER COLOR! So my pink for the day is my daughter - my Princess Bethie!

3Scrapateers is closing....

I'm very sad to announce that one of my stores, 3Scrapateers is closing after over 4 years! 3S is where I started digital scrapbooking and have felt so honored to design for them and be a part of that site! Their last day is 10/31/08. :(


That being said - of course my ScatterZ Challenge and the ScrapStyle ezine will no longer continue.

I'm so sad!

High/Low - October 17th + Freebie

My LOW this week....so my mom just called me. My sister who lives in Las Vegas woke up this morning to find her husband dead on the living room floor. We don't know what happened yet. But as I sit here, I just feel completely helpless. I feel very very far away from her right now. . I have no idea what to do. Charity loved Mike and they have 2 little boys. And now she has lost him.

My original low this week was going to be that my son has been sick and had another seizure yesterday - but this is just so much worse. JJ is doing fine now and I know that everything will be okay. One of my worst fears is to lose Joey - and now my sister is actually experiencing this. I feel really so sorrowful for my sister right now. I wish that I knew what to do. My heart just hurts for her. I can't imagine the decisions she now has to make and all I can do is just sit here and pray for her.....


My HIGH for this week was definitely the Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbook Convention that I got to go to last week. I really had a wonderful time. It was really nice to get away by myself for a little while. Scrap Girls put on a wonderful retreat. The food was great! I was truly amazed by the variety of wonderful classes and fun games that we had. I was able to actually scrapbook a few pages and I met lots of wonderful people and became closer to the other Utah girls. Even as a designer I really learned a lot and that was really fun! I hope they put on another one next year!


I do have a freebie for you today. I am working on a Halloween Kit right now. It is still nameless - but hopefully I will have a name soon. I am hoping to finish up this kit by next week! For those of you who participated in my Digitals BB4 Celebration Challenge - this is the kit you will get for free! As soon as it is done, I will be PMing you with links to get it! :)

Anyways, but here is a little sneak preview into the kit! A great Halloween Frame for your pages and it will coordinate with the new kit! Enjoy.

Seizures...

Hey everyone -

From the convention....

So today is the last day of the Digital Scrapbooking Convention. I have totally loved it! I will say more later, but I wanted to share a 2-page layout that I did this weekend! Yep, me - I actually scrapbooked. As a designer, I am having a really hard time actually scrapbooking - if I have time - I am designing - so I need to balance that out more-but I really liked how this turned out and so much fun to actually use my own kit!

So this is my layout (using SISTERS BY HEART) and I based it off of one of my CT's layouts - Thanks Rona Gavino!!!

Updated Logo

So I decided to update my logo just slightly with my current TearZ Bear AND I decided to change my design name slightly as well. I am now DESIGNZ BY DEDE, instead of just "Designs." I figure that the Z is sort of my trademark now - so its high time it made it to my logo!

So I am going to be updating it in my previews and such from now on! I'm also considering changing my blog address to designzbydede.blogspot.com - so it could change soon - but it might not too! :)

Another question answered...

I was wondering, though, if you ever plan on making past freebie/crop Scatterz available for purchase?

I'm sorry - but most of the ScatterZ that I create for crops/challenges are exclusive to that crop/challenge. One of the perks of participating in my crops/challenges is that you get stuff that is not available anywhere else. I'm so glad you found me and I'm sorry that I'm not able to bring those ScatterZ back right now.

But I promise I have lots more ScatterZ Ideas for the future! And everyone of my kits from now on will have ScatterZ that go along with it. Don't forget to check out my ScatterZ Challenge at 3S as well - these are exclusive scatterz every month you can get if you do the challenge!

More Questions answered

I bought your Scatterz kit last week, is it different from what you have give out this week?

I have 3 ScatterZ Collections now (besides the MANY individual scatterz that I have given out on my blog, crop/challenge freebies, and in kits)! ScatterZ is in the store HERE. ScatterZ 2 is in my grab bag (hint hint) and ScatterZ 3 (consisting of the 16 scatterz I am giving out on my blog this week) will be in the store on Thursday! Each of these 3 collections includes DIFFERENT ScatterZ - none are the same. Hope that makes sense!


And earlier this week someone asked whether I came up with the ScatterZ on my own.

I came up with the name on my own - I was trying to figure out what to call them and all I could think of was that they are elements that you can "scatter" around your layout so I tapped on my Z trademark and there you go. As for coming up with the idea - I have seen several designers do glittery scattery elements (including Tracy Ann's Frippery Elements), but I try to put my own spin on them.

Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking Convention!!!

I am just so excited for Thursday to get here - I feel like it has been a long time coming and now that it is almost here, I can just hardly stand it! I am so amazingly blessed to be able to go to the Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking Convention here in Utah this week! My wonderful Joey let me purchase my ticket in May (Yea, it's like my anniversary, birthday, and probably Christmas present all wrapped in one!). It is a little expensive and if it weren't in Salt Lake City, there is no way I would be able to attend - so I feel very blessed. With all the amazing Scrapbooking Retreats out there - I was just really looking for a digital scrapboking one - and I finally found it! Thank you Joey for letting me do this!

I just feel like I need a break. I need a break from being a wife and mom - I need a break from the housework and just life. I need to go just be free and only worry about myself and be with lots of girl friends! And get back to doing what I LOVE designing and scrapbooking! I haven't done an actual scrapbook page in months, so I'm really looking forward to getting a few pages done and just learning and growing and relaxing and just getting away. I just know I am going to meet lots of wonderful friends and have FUN! And I know that even though it will be hard to leave after it's over - I just know that I will be coming home with lots of inspiration and feel like myself again and I think I will be a better mom and wife because of it! I'm just so thrilled that I get to do this!

So here's the plan. We are finishing up the Digitals Birthday Bash #4 Event on Wednesday. Make sure you attend the final crop on Wednesday night! Make sure you catch the Blog Train (only 2 more days) and play in the Treasure Hunt and Challenges and BINGO! So much happening - but you won't want to miss a thing! :) Thursday - my grab bag stuff will be put in the store so don't miss out on getting it now for only $3! Also my Blog Train ScatterZ will be put together in a collection called SCATTERZ 3 and will be in the store on Thursday if you missed it!

Thursday morning I take my daughter to preschool and then my hubby is dropping me off at the Trax Station (the train) and a couple of hours later I will be at my hotel (University Guesthouse on the University of Utah campus). I will check in and then at 1:00pm I go over to the Officers Club at Fort Douglas and the Convention begins!!! And we have quite a schedule until Saturday at 6pm - lots of crops, chatting, games, excursions, FOOD, and fun! So I will be coming home late Saturday - but since this is a digital scrapbooking convention - I will have internet access and my laptop the whole time - so I will be around!

Now usually I have my HIGH/LOW and freebie for Friday, but this week I am not promising anything. If I get inspired and find the time during the convention I might peek in on the blog and share with you - but might not too! LOL You've got lots of freebies from me this week - so I figure it will be okay to miss a week :) But check in anyways because I just might surprise you!

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you where I will be this weekend and I want to thank you all for your amazing comments this week! Thank you all for your support! I couldn't do it without each one of you!

High/Low - October 3rd

My LOW for this Week is that last night my throat started hurting really bad. It came on sudden like and got me scared that I was getting strep AGAIN. But thankfully this morning it is a lot better - still hurts, but manageable. I feel a little stuffed up too - but I think I just have a cold. The rest of the family is still trying to feel completely better. But the kids have gone to school this week and getting more rest at night so I think we've gotten through this cold spell. I love Fall/Winter because of the cooler weather (I really hate being hot) - but I don't like the sickness that seems to travel a lot! H

My HIGH for this Week was that I got to go to a football game with Joey (my husband) on Saturday. Growing up I never really got the chance to go to a football game, since I lived in a small town with no football team. So I think this is the very first football game that I have ever been to. I was never a football fan until I married Joey, but now I think it's a lot of fun! And it really was fun to be at the Utah Utes game with friends. Thanks to my Cody and Becki for tending our kids! :) And thanks to Brandon, Brandon's Dad, Curtis, and Skyler for letting us join you!






Another HIGH this week was last night I got to go meet with the Wasatch Front Scrap Girls! It is just so much fun getting to know digital scrapbookers, especially actually meeting with them (not just online) and having food and chatting and just sharing in each other's lives. Last night was all about the convention that is coming up! Only one more week - I just can't wait! We spent last night planning little things that we can do to welcome all the Scrap Girls to Utah! It's just going to be such a blast! It will DEFINITELY be my HIGH for next week, so stay tuned to hear about all about it! I will be leaving my kids with my hubby next Thursday-Friday-Saturday and spending the days in Salt Lake City at Fort Douglas with the Scrap Girls! So excited to get away for a few days!
