CAN YOU SAY.....

OVERWHELMED. Yep, that's how I am feeling right now. I have too many projects, too many ideas, too many to-dos, and I'm not sure how to lessen it all. I want my kids involved in all these things so they will have a fun summer. I need to do a whole bunch of design stuff so that I'm back on track. How do I fit it all in and still feel like I'm functional. I have been having bad dreams and not getting any rest. Whenever I get like this, I just kind of shut down and I don't have the time to do that.

What do you do when you are overwhelmed?

I make a list - and I am SO totally NOT a list person - but when I am overwhelmed, I make one. And instead of saying - paint the bookcase, I put down each step in the process: Clean the bookcase, Prime the bookcase, Move the bookcase outside, Spray the bookcase. And I continue with all of my tasks. It makes my to-do list really, really long - but each little thing doesn't really take very long, so it helps me feel like I can actually accomplish these things - whereas "paint the bookcase" seems like a monumental task and when will I ever find time to do it? And then I put it into some kind of priority, although some things that don't seem like a priority, get done because I know I will have 30 minutes while I am waiting for something else - and that's all they take. This may seem kind of weird - but it works for me. :) Hang in there!

This is what I do too. In addition I don't allow myself to play until I've done at least one thing on my to-do list.

I don't sweat it if I don't get everything done. I ask myself will the world come to an end if I don't do this today. Of course the answer is no. So then I accept what I can do & forget about the rest. I don't beat myself up.

Perhaps the summer months should be more about your kids & less about everything else. Once they go back to school then you can add back other things.

If your kids nap then maybe get something done then. Also, if they are old enough engage them in whatever activity so that they can help mom out. They'll love that... at least until they become a teen. Ha....

If your church has a program where you can leave the kids for a while do that. Or perhaps play dates with other kids.

Good luck Miss DeDe!
