Family History TuesdayZ | Family Room

Here is this week's journal prompt :

Each Tuesday, I am going to be offering prompts or ideas. If you don't write in your journal regularly - I am going to encourage you to write just ONCE A WEEK and answer the question/idea that I give on Tuesdays. These ideas hopefully will spark a memory and you will be able to capture that in what you write/record so that it can be left for your children/grandchildren/family/friends. Give as much detail as you can when answering.

Will you do this for me? Will you do this for your families? You can write it down in a journal, you can type it up on a computer or journaling software, you can take a recorder and talk, you can videotape your answers, you can even scrap a page with the journaling. It doesn't matter how you do this - it's just important that you do it. The memories, the dates, the information is the only real thing we can leave to our families when we are gone.

If I come up with other family history ideas - I will be sure to share it here too - and if you want to share with me your ideas - that would be wonderful and I'd be glad to share them here too. Just comment here or email me at dedesmith32@gmail.com.

Life 2011: Week 35

Monday, August 22, 2011

A very eventful day! We went to the kids' schools to meet their teachers and see their new classrooms. The kids were so excited! We came home and Uncle Lane came to spend the night on his way up to Logan for college. So we had a nice little visit with him before he went to hang out with some friends. Unfortunately, while making dinner and some bread - I dropped a big can on my foot, resulting in a lot of pain and blood. I couldn't believe that it landed at the right angle to split open my toe from the top and right through the nail. Ouch!

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

Back to School day! We were all excited for this day to arrive. The kids were so excited to get on their buses and go to school. It was a busy day for me and before I knew it they were home from school and they had lots of things to tell me about their first day of school. Now that the kids are in different schools, its a little crazy, but I look forward to getting a more structured schedule in. I thought I might be a little lonely in the day, but actually I was able to get things done and stay busy, so its good. My visiting teachers came this afternoon and we had a good visit.

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

After 48 hours, this is my poor injured toe. It hurt a lot today but hopefully that means its healing.

Thursday, August 25
, 2011

Now that both of the kids are in school all day, I was finally able to go to a Scrap Girls lunch! We ate at the cafe at Thanksgiving Gardens and it was delicious. I really enjoyed visiting with these ladies that I hadn't seen in so long. It made for a great afternoon. For dinner, we picked up some Rubios; the kids used their free kids meal coupons that they had earned from the summer reading program. It was nice not to have to cook all day!

Friday, August 26, 2011

Beth lost another tooth tonight as we were brushing her teeth. So far that makes 3 teeth and her other top tooth should be out pretty soon! It makes her look so different! She is so excited about the tooth fairy too! (Even though she actually forgot to come tonight - but she made it the next night!)

Saturday, August 27, 2011

Beth had her second soccer game today. I wasn't feeling well, so Joey took the kids and I got to take a nap. Unfortunately, the team was short on players and the coach didn't show up today. So Joey coached them and they did pretty good.

Sunday, August 28, 2011

We had Stake Conference today, but because I still wasn't feeling well, we stayed home and watched some church movies. Beth's Primary teacher dropped by with a wonderful little treat for her - a ding dong cupcake all decorated with her name. She loved it, and even shared it with her brother. We watched "Peter and the Wolf" for Family Movie Night.

And here is my weekly layout:

New Release Monday + Show-OffZ Challenge 8/22/11

Join me on Mondays for my new releases! Also on New Release Mondays I will be posting a Show-OffZ Call for your layouts - so please don't miss that at the bottom of this posting!

FIRST - I am happy to report that my School YearZ Kit is now available in all my stores! I also added a new SCHOOL YEARZ: QUICKPAGE ALBUM.
This album is a wonderful way to coordinate all of your child's school photos, memories, and keepsakes into a beautiful album. You can use it to just add to your child's scrapbook - or create a whole coordinated album. There are blank pages so you can add your own photo placement too. It's simple design makes it so you can have a professional looking style or you can embellish to your heart's content! There are lots of different colors included so you can scrap from Preschool to Graduation! (For instance you could do Preschool with the number pattern, Kindergarten with the alphabet pattern, 1st Grade with Red, 2nd Grade with yellow, etc.) The previews do not do this justice! I am planning on using this for my own kids' album!

I am so excited to release KINDRED SPIRITZ!
Growing up, L.M. Montgomery's Anne books were some of my favorites and continue to this day. A great tale of the adventure of life and making the best of it. I dedicate this kit to my dear friend, Laurie "Anne", with whom I shared the best of my childhood and with whom I will always feel is a Kindred Spirit.

Filled with the comfort of quilts and home and the wonderful childhood tale of being happy through the adventures of life and love. Great for heritage and vintage layouts, as well as childhood memories!

So look below for all the previews to this collection and go check out all the products in my stores here:

Life 2011: Week 34

Monday, August 15, 2011

We did our back to school shopping today! It was nice to get it all done. The kids were so excited about having some new clothes, shoes and backpacks for this year!

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

We completed the Orem Library's Summer Reading program today. We were able to go and get their last rewards and it has been a great Summer of reading. I think the kids' favorites were the Fudge books.

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Beth had another soccer practice this evening. We went to get in the van and found that the battery was dead so we started walking. It was so hot and we were glad that Joey came and picked us up and took us the rest of the way. Joey was able to charge our van battery and so it was all good. I think Beth's team is going to be a great one for her and she's learning a lot.

Thursday, August 18
, 2011

We made colorful paper airplanes today, along with a lot of other coloring and playing indoors.

Friday, August 19, 2011

The kids were feeling really stir crazy and so we thought we would fit in #24 Family Fun Activity which was a trip to the Hogle Zoo. We got to finally see the dinosaur exhibit that has been at the zoo this summer. Fun robotic dinosaurs throughout the zoo. We also got to see Zuri the 2-year-old elephant do some tricks in the Elephant Encounter show and ride the carousel and train. It was a good day. We drove past our old duplex and it was fun to see that JJ remembered it. I miss that ward and that place. It was a good time for us.

Saturday, August 20, 2011

The kids and I woke up with colds. I'm not sure where we picked it up but we did. I think I got the most of it, but we still had things to do today. Beth had her first soccer game of the season. Unfortunately, her uniform didn't come yet, so she just wore a turquoise shirt. But the team looked really good. Beth did really well and even got in there to kick the ball - much better than last year. We are proud of her.

In the evening, we headed to our last #25 Family Fun Activity which was a pool party hosted by JJ's Orthodontist. We thought about not going since I wasn't feeling well at all and the kids were not at their best, but they had really been looking forward to it - so we did it. We had a good time, mostly riding the lazy river around. It was actually pretty fast going and we all had fun.

Sunday, August 21, 2011

Unfortunately, our summer colds were worse today, so we stayed home from church. I slept most of the day and I think it really helped. We just finished the Indian in the Cupboard book, so we were excited to watch the movie for family movie night tonight!

And here is my weekly layout:

High/Low: August 19, 2011 + Freebie

My LOW this Week is that once again I have had a hard time getting things done. I'm trying to work through a bit of anxiety/depression and it has made some things harder on me. I think once school starts and we get back to a consistent schedule I'll be better.

My HIGH for this Week is that the kids and I went to the zoo together today. We haven't been there in a couple of years so it was fun to see the animals and get out of the house. It got hot though, so we are glad we went in the morning and came home before it got too hot.

I have a freebie for you today - an Elk that coordinates with my ZOO CREWZ. Come back to my Freebie Fridays all this month for more animals!

Have a great weekend!
