Review | Bikram Yoga at Brick Canvas

As part of my Brick Canvas participation,
I was able to experience
Bikram Yoga

The only yoga that I have ever done (up until now) has been the few moves on the Wii Fit that I can do, so yoga is basically a new thing for me. When I heard that Bikram Yoga is yoga done in a 105 degree room, I was freaked out. I don't usually do heat well. Summer is my least favorite time of the year and I like to stay in air conditioned areas. But I decided that I had to give it a try and I'm so glad I did!

Bikram Yoga is done in a 90-minute class, in a 105-degree room, and involves 2 breathing exercises and 26 yoga positions.

I was able to do 6 yoga classes and experienced 2 different yoga instructors. Both instructors were so helpful and welcoming and the other class members helped me out so much. It truly felt like we were in it together and that felt really good.

I took the time to come a little bit early and just lay and relax in the room. It helped me to get used to the heat and really helped me cope better. I enjoyed the way the heat helped loosen up my muscles and I could go a lot farther than I thought I could.  There was a lot of positions that I couldn't do, but I liked how I could just do my best and not feel like I was competing with the others around me. I liked that I could take a break when I needed it and dive back in when I was ready.  I don't think I have ever sweat so much in my life! All-in-all, it was amazing and my favorite part of the whole Brick Canvas experience.

I was so impressed with Bikram Yoga! I am currently trying to find the money every month so I can make it a few times a week. It's really addicting and the instructors and people at Brick Canvas are so welcoming and awesome! I look forward to making progress in my flexibility and self-image!
