Life 2011: Week 26

Grandma Smith arrived early today and we were so happy to have her spend the day with us! JJ had school, but after we picked him up the day was full of lunch at the school, playing with Grandma, baking Friendship Bread, some chores, and a great visit to the park to feed the ducks and play! Our #2 Family Fun Activity was to spend the day with Grandma Smith.

The day was scrambled with lots of errands, but we did fit in a much-needed $5 hair-cut for both of the kids. Then we headed to the library for our #3 Family Fun Activity of the Summer - The Summer Reading Program at the Library. We picked up the goal sheets and learned a little bit about Japan! We are all so excited about all the fun rewards and getting to read lots this summer!

My silly JJ. I love it when he uses his imagination. Today, while playing he was a pirate, but he was a stylish one because he had to have his sunglasses too!

Our #4 Family Fun Activity is to spend at least once a week at the bowling alley! We are loving the Kids Free Bowling program here and we decided Thursdays are going to be our day to go bowling. Its been a lot of fun and I have to say my little girl is already an amazing bowler!

Our #5 Family Fun Activity is our annual "Date with the Kids" Day. We have started a tradition that every June we pick a day (this year it is 2 days), where we take the kids on a special date. I love that we are getting this special time one-on-one with our kids. Tonight JJ and I went to see Cars 2 and Beth and her Daddy went to a Princess Ball! The kids have been so excited for this and I'm so glad that they enjoy it just as much as we do. It was fun to go to the theater with JJ - he loves movies just as much as I do, and it was CARS so it was just so fun. Beth loved dancing with her Daddy and it was just a wonderful evening.

Today we continued our dates with the kids. This time I took Beth to the Princess Festival and Joey and JJ went to the arcade for games and laser tag. It was a great day. Beth loved all the adventures at the Princess Festival and I really enjoyed being with her. JJ and his daddy had a great time too and JJ did awesome at Laser tag. We ended the day together with a couple of games of bowling and ice cream. An exhausting, but wonderful day!

Unfortunately, Beth has come down with an awful cold! She was coughing up a storm all night and had to sleep on the couch with her dad holding her up. So we decided to keep the kids home with Dad, while I went to church to teach my Primary class. Grandma Smith stopped at our house for another visit on the way back from her trip to Wyoming. The kids were so happy that she got to be here for Family Movie Night - we watched Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. We are glad she got to spend another day with us!
