High/Low + Freebie | August 29, 2014

My LOW this Week is that its already getting really wearisome to have to drive to pick up JJ from school. It's only 20 minutes, but it just kind of seems like forever since I have to go 45 minutes early so that I am in front of the huge line of cars picking up kids. I am working out a carpool with some of the other moms though so maybe I won't have to drive so much!

My HIGH for this Week is that I actually cleaned my house. It's not perfect but I've let it go for way too long and got it cleaned up pretty good. It just feels good to walk into a clean home.


I do have a freebie for you today! Do you all remember Bethie's Room? Inside that kit there was a special DRESS-UP BOX. There were DollZ that you could mix and match hair and such and then add a princess dress. I included the "Merida" Dress inside of Bethie's Room: CSS, but until now, there hasn't been any "FroZted" Dresses!  So I thought you would love to add to your collection! Family History TuesdayZ | Vacation Dreams

Here is this week's journal prompt :

My Personal Journaling:

My big dream is to visit Australia someday. I've always been fascinated with its culture and places.

But recently, I would have to say that my dream trip is coming up in December. I can't wait to take my family back to Disneyland.  We are totally splurging on this one and I can't wait to surprise my kids!

Each Tuesday, I am going to be offering prompts or ideas. If you don't write in your journal regularly - I am going to encourage you to write just ONCE A WEEK and answer the question/idea that I give on Tuesdays. These ideas hopefully will spark a memory and you will be able to capture that in what you write/record so that it can be left for your children/grandchildren/family/friends. Give as much detail as you can when answering.

Will you do this for me? Will you do this for your families? You can write it down in a journal, you can type it up on a computer or journaling software, you can take a recorder and talk, you can videotape your answers, you can even scrap a page with the journaling. It doesn't matter how you do this - it's just important that you do it. The memories, the dates, the information is the only real thing we can leave to our families when we are gone.

Life 2014 | Back to the Books

A new school year is upon us and I can't believe its time to go back to school already.  I feel so unprepared, but I am looking forward to getting back to a regular routine and the new adventures that this school year brings to us!

J.J. has the amazing opportunity to go to a new school this year. Spectrum Academy has a brand new campus in Pleasant Grove and its all for kids on the Autism Spectrum.  I was so nervous about sending J.J. off to middle school (7th grade), but after he got accepted into SA, I was relieved. It is still a little nerve racking and I think it's going to be a hard year, but much better now that I know he will be getting what he needs with the right teachers and programs. It's all new for him with having a locker and going to different classes during the day. I hope he progresses this year. His new advisory teacher is Mr. Phelps and he seems like a great guy.

Beth is off to Spring Creek Elementary again as a 4th grader. She has Ms. Rossiter as her teacher and when she heard that her teacher is all about reading, art, and music - she was so excited!  All three of the things she really enjoys! I think its going to be a really fun year for her.

Princess Party - New Location

Well, Utah has rain so the Princess Party at the Park is not working out!  But we have found a NEW LOCATION - Cabela's in Lehi!  Now you can bring your sons and your husbands too and everyone will have a great time!  The Princesses and Spider-Guy will still be there with a meet and greet, free autograph books for the first 100, a sing-along, face painting, giveaways, and vendors (INCLUDING ME)! So please please please come! I know it might be a little farther away for some of you - and for others (like me) it's actually closer - but I promise we will make it worth your time! And it's still FREE!

High/Low + Freebie | August 22, 2014

My LOW this Week is that my new medication is still making me really tired. It's helping with the depression/anxiety, but I just have to work out the side effects. 

My HIGH for this Week is that school is back in session! It's going to take a little bit, but I'm excited for routines and schedules and hopefully getting more balanced!  Fall is my favorite season - just for that reason!

Recipe Thursday | Ham 'n Potato Soup

This week's Recipe:

My husband's mom has a ham and potato soup that he LOVES.  This is my version of the soup (his mom uses only water and no onion or garlic). I like more flavor to my soups so I use chicken broth.  This soup is different than most ham and potato soups in that it is brothy instead of chowdery. Most potato soups that I know is thicker and has milk in it. So this was a great change and I actually really liked it! Serve with some french bread or rolls!

Ham 'n Potato Soup
by DeDe Smith

4 cups potatoes, diced
2 cups ham, diced
1 large onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
4 cups chicken broth
1 cube of butter
1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
1 tsp black pepper, or to taste

Place all ingredients into the crockpot and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the potatoes are done.

Family History TuesdayZ | Ice Cream

When we lived in Salt Lake City, there used to be a Ice Cream Shop called Snelgrove's.  Joey and I loved to stop in for a treat.  They had the best ice cream dish ever.  It was called the COOKIE MONSTER and it included my 2 favorite ice cream flavors all in one dish - Cookies 'n Cream and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. I love these 2 flavors together!

Princess Party at the Park

Remember when I told you about the FAIRY TALE EXPO and how excited I was to be a part of it this Saturday?  Well, unfortunately, due to some circumstances with the company who was throwing the event - it has been rescheduled for November. I'm sad, I was really looking forward to it.


BUT, I do have some good news. The Part of Your World Princess Parties (the characters that were going to be at the Fairy Tale Expo) are now throwing a fun little event that day at a park and I have been asked to bring my booth and be a part of it! Yay! I'm so excited! So if you are in Utah, please come! It is a free meet and greet, you can get autographs, there's a fun sing-along and more! And it's FREE!  We would love to have you come and join us!

My LOW this Week is that I am on a new medication that is making me extremely tired. I hope this side effect goes away because its pretty much killing me. I'm having a really hard time getting out of bed!

My HIGH for this Week is that I had some fun and got to help out a friend with PTA Stuff for the Back-to-School Night at my daughter's school. I am excited to be creating logos, newsletters, and posters! It was a lot of fun and really good for me to let some different creativity out! Thanks Alicia for letting me play!
